✓ Pros

When heat treated well (especially by Buck), performs above its reputation. Very easy to sharpen. Good corrosion resistance. Inexpensive. Good for light use.

✗ Cons

Poor edge retention. Soft. Not suitable for hard use. Better steels available at slightly higher cost.

Grinding Notes

Very easy to grind. Great for learning. Use any abrasive. Very forgiving steel. Fast stock removal.

Polishing Notes

Takes adequate polish. Lower chromium than premium steels but acceptable finish. Fine for production knives.
