Very easy to sharpen even in field conditions. Good corrosion resistance. Tough for a stainless steel. Inexpensive. Forgiving heat treatment.
✗ Cons
Poor edge retention. Requires frequent sharpening. Relatively soft. Being phased out in favor of better steels.
Grinding Notes
Very easy to grind. Great for beginners. Works with any abrasive. Forgiving of grinding mistakes.
Polishing Notes
Takes adequate polish. Fine for working knives. Not premium finish but acceptable.
