PM processing gives superior toughness to conventional 154CM. Very uniform structure. Popular for stainless damascus. Excellent edge retention. Can achieve high hardness.
✗ Cons
Expensive compared to conventional steels. Limited availability. Requires proper heat treatment. Grinds slowly.
Grinding Notes
PM structure grinds more uniformly than conventional 154CM but still slowly. Ceramic belts work best. Cool grinding critical.
Polishing Notes
PM structure polishes beautifully. Excellent for mirror finish. Popular for damascus due to uniform etch response.
