✓ Pros

Absolutely will not rust under any conditions. Perfect for saltwater use. Good toughness. Easy to sharpen. Unique steel for extreme environments.

✗ Cons

Poor edge retention. Soft compared to carbon steels. Expensive. Limited availability. Edge rolls rather than chips.

Grinding Notes

Grinds differently than carbon steels - tougher and more 'gummy'. Use sharp belts and don't expect fast stock removal. Cool grinding essential.

Polishing Notes

Takes satin finish well. Mirror polish is challenging. Has characteristic pale appearance of nitrogen steels.
