Description
Camel bone is considered one of the best bone materials due to its incredibly dense structure. It's harder than standard cow bone and offers superior durability. Camel bone takes dyes well but is prone to staining from oils and liquids. **Fordele:** Very dense and hard, superior to cow bone, takes dye beautifully, good texture for grip, exotic appearance **Ulemper:** Stains easily, still porous like all bone, more expensive than cow bone, requires sealing
Properties
✓ Pros
• Good workability
✗ Cons
• Susceptible to moisture damage, requires proper sealing
Working Notes
Cutting: Harder than cow bone, requires sharp tools. Use slow speeds to prevent burning. Creates fine, dense dust. Sanding: Progress through grits 220-1000. Takes longer to sand than cow bone due to density. Wet sand for best results.
Finishing Notes
Seal with CA glue or epoxy. Polishes to an excellent luster. Apply protective wax coating for maintenance.
⚠️ Special Considerations
Higher density makes it stronger but also harder to work. Still requires complete sealing like all bone materials.
